The unseen beauty

When I was a child, I used to spend a lot of time with my grandmother from the Netherlands. As I later noticed, both of us had a lot in common. She was a very creative person too, and we spent endless hours doing handicrafts, drawing, and being outside in nature to collect beautiful things. Like me, my grandmother had a sense to see the unseen beauty in everyday things. You could never just go for a walk without stopping at a tree, a flower, or literally anything else to notice how special and wonderful it was. There was a time when I found that very annoying, like walking with a little child, always waiting for them to move on. But now I realize how incredible that is when you can see the beauty in those everyday things that hardly anybody else would recognize. It’s that awareness that makes your mind positive, that makes you look at this world as a wonderful place.

So today, I am that person who stops for those things – the unseen beauty in everyday things.
